Russian Bombshell Update

Still nothing from the mainstream media. However, CBS is publishing a claim by a militant group that they have those missing explosives.

Bill Gertz (Washington Times) has the scoop and CBS publishes a story about some militant group that probably doesn't have anything. They've only been watching the media promote these claims, and they figure that they will say that they have the explosives to hurt Bush even more. Very nice.

Good job CBS. Too bad you guys couldn't hold on to the story until the last minute so it couldn't be discredited before the election.

And so...the old media takes another step toward being obsolete.

Update: MSNBC buries it beneath the militant story. Nice.

Update 2: Brett Bair of Fox News apparently reported on it last night (however, nothing is showing up online as of yet). Via Wizbang:

Brett Baier of Fox News is on a roll.

First, he is reporting that the Department of Defense has satellite imagery from BEFORE the war showing large trucks removing things from Al Qaa Qa. Some have suggested they may release the images.

The plot thickens. Maybe Cox and Forkum should update this cartoon to show the bomb rolling back on Kerry.

kind of like the top US military intelligence officer in iraq stating that the majority of bombs (IEDs) in Iraq bear the signature of saddam's secret police, but we are told of every claim made by zarqawi's group in a desperate attempt to make us believe the war in iraq is related to the war on terrorism. (although, please note, i am certain zarqawi is responsible for his fair share of killing and chaos.) blake, why no outrage towards all of these claims? they can never be substantiated.

Bush lie machine admits lying - i applaud their decision to come clean before getting caught:

when will they tell us who outed joseph wilson's wife? a crime committed by (quoting gwhb prez #41 here) "only the most incidious human beings " on the face of the earth ...

There's a good reason the Washington SLIMES is the only outlet "reporting" this Russian "story:" Their Moonie audience are the only people in America stupid enough to believe it.

IAEA WARNED THE CHIMPANISTAS ABOUT AL KA-KA EXPLOSIVES

October Surprise turns in October Demise

And now we face even more ka-ka.

Thanks, chimp, for making us so %#%&# safe.

http://www.startribune.com/stories/1762/5057071.html

VIENNA, Austria -- The U.N. nuclear agency said Thursday it warned the United States about the vulnerability of explosives stored at Iraq's Al-Qaqaa military installation after another facility - Iraq's main nuclear complex - was looted in April 2003.

Melissa Fleming, a spokeswoman for the International Atomic Energy Agency, told The Associated Press that U.S. officials were cautioned directly about what was stored at Al-Qaqaa, the main high explosives facility in Iraq.

Still nothing from the vast, right-wing conspiracy fascist propaganda lie machines:

CHIMPANISTAS TRIED TO PLANT WMDS IN IRAQ

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_12-8-2003_pg1_9

According to a stunning report posted by a retired Navy Lt Commander and 28-year veteran of the Defense Department (DoD), the Bush administration's assurance about finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was based on a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) plan to "plant" WMDs inside the country. Nelda Rogers, the Pentagon whistleblower, claims the plan failed when the secret mission was mistakenly taken out by "friendly fire", the Environmentalists Against War report.

Another story the VR-WC fascists won't tell you about.

GIs didn't find Al Ka-Ka explosives...BECAUSE NO ONE TOLD THEM TO LOOK!

No Check of Bunker, Unit Commander Says

White House officials reasserted yesterday that 380 tons of powerful explosives may have disappeared from a vast Iraqi military complex while Saddam Hussein controlled Iraq, saying a brigade of American soldiers did not find the explosives when they visited the complex on April 10, 2003, the day after Baghdad fell.

But the unit's commander said in an interview yesterday that his troops had not searched the site and had merely stopped there overnight.

oops - read article - minnesota TV crew videotapes Al-Qaqaa explosives 9 days after fall of saddam:

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041029/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq_weapons_19

to the Times credit, Minnesotians do have funny accents just like Russians ...

oops-new development-soldier removed and destroyed 200+ tons of explosives from Al-Qaqaa.

250 tons destroyed, but not the stuff of issue under IAEA seal.

Video shows explosives disappeared after the war.

So much for the Moonie misdirection. One of the many reasons no one considers this fascist birdcage liner a news organization.

The October Surprise is that the chimp doesn't have one. Washington SLIMES, infantpundit, wrong again.

Posted by: The Token Librul at October 29, 2004 01:04 PM

WOW!! You repeated more of the same from before. The video was shot on the 18th. Weapons were destroyed after the 18th. And nobody seems to be mentioning the 400,000 tons we are going to or have already destroyed. We're talking about 0.1 percent of the total we have already seized. Wait, here's another link:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=2&u=/ap/20041029/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq_weapons_23

Phew! Do I feel better now! So quick! Lets have your conclusions founded in concrete evidence!! Everybody stateside seems to know what's happened over there better than the soldiers, those sorry, lying, no good heroes. I'm not sure there's anyone left in Iraq that the Kerry campaign hasn't marked as incompetent.

Posted by: Jakester at October 29, 2004 01:26 PM

oops - john kerry never criticized the soldiers. he criticized the administration. it has been the bush administration that has said it was the responsibility of the military and he wouldn't know anything about it. first it was the russian, then it was destroyed - what next? keep the excuses coming ...

Posted by: jakec at October 29, 2004 03:41 PM

it might also be less misleading if you quoted the whole paragraph:

"But at least another 250,000 tons from Saddam's regime remain unaccounted for, and some has undoubtedly fallen into the hands of insurgents."

as stated before - john kerry is concerned with al qaqaa specifically. i taint john kerry - i care about the overall picture. this whole situation was mismanaged - now american soldiers are dying. thank george bush (who will no doubt defer blame to the military just as he galiently let the failed intelligence used as a pretext for war go to the CIA) ...

Posted by: jakec at October 29, 2004 03:46 PM

also, if you think the amount in question = .1% you need to work on your division. but of course, an enlightened guy like you already knows that, right? nice try - read the articles you post and you might see that the removed nothing under a seal. oh well, who cares, right? it just dead american soldiers and iraqi civilians we're talking about. i mean it's nothing important, like maintaining the fantasy world of the bush administration and their followers.
