Thursday CARR Car Blogging
Wow, today is a great day for a British car. Prior to heading to the Freedom Forum this morning for CARR training, I stopped by Bongo Java for a little coffee and free wi-fi (which, by the way, is where I am now).
Last night I caught a glimpse of two British vehicles (sorry, no pictures) in the Belmont area. An Austin Healey "Bugeye" Sprite and an Big Healey (all within a two block radius). Today, while leaving the Freedom Forum, I saw a chrome bumper MGB that needed a little TLC. Looked like a solid car though. Like I said...it's great British car weather (as long as they are running).
I came across another cool vehicle the other day. Not sure of the year, but it's an old Ford "Woody." You don't see many of these around...especially original as this one is (which I admire...being an old car "purist").
Finally, on to the continuing Land Rover project...
After leaving the engine in the engine bay a couple of weeks ago, I was hoping to cruise along this past weekend in getting the thing back to running. For those familiar with British vehicles, you are probably laughing at this last statement...and you would be right to. Put in the antifreeze, discover a radiator leak, remove radiator, clean and sauter the crack (on the lower elbow), put radiator back in, and then good to go. Attempt to put distributor in, discover distributor won't fit like it used to, spend an hour getting distributor back in. Hook several other things back in, plug in the battery, and without any other incident, I'm able to turn it over...and hence, my first videoblog:
Click here to see the engine turned over for the first time in two years (4 MB - AVI). Not that impressive, but hey...I am further along than the previous week. heh
So, that's Thursday Car Blogging for this week...hopefully I'll have more adventures in British cars next week...hopefully.
More: Chris Wage has some Thursday Car Blogging up. He also covers the possible demise of MG Rover (which I missed).
