Thursday Car Blogging
As you may have noticed, there was a bit of light blogging today. That will more than likely continue tomorrow and through the weekend. However, I do have time to do a little Thursday Car Blogging.
Work on the Land Rover continues, and progress is being made. Last weekend I was able to drive around in the grass a few times, but I seem to have a problem originating from this little guy:
My Rover has a 34 ICH Weber Carburetor. Webers are an after-market add on. They supposedly boost power, and they can be good carbs...when they are working right. This one isn't. Everytime I turned the choke off, it stopped running. I then turned this screw:
That screw holds the idle jet in place. It seems that the idle jet (below) may be worn just a bit and needs replacement.
So...I've ordered that along with a Weber rebuild kit (only $25), and hopefully after this next weekend, it will be running reliably....hopefully.
Pictures of the yard adventures next week.
More: Chris Wage has become quite a reliable Thursday Car Blogger. Head over and check it out. He also points out that TVR has made a bid for the MG name. That's much better than Honda buying them. Maybe it will remain British after all.
This little tidbit also popped up..
What this means to you: Who knows? With the right backing and creative thinking, MG could emerge as a British rival to Porsche — and the popular brand could even return to the U.S.
Interesting indeed.

Rebuilding a Weber should be fun, at least.
When I had a carburetor go bad on my first Sentra (yes, I've had three. I have a problem), I thought about trying to rebuild it, and everyone I asked basically said [darth vader]NOOOOOOOOOOOOO[/darth vader]
Evidently nissan carbs are notoriously complicated. I still sorta wish I had tried..
