Don't Get Me Wrong

By the way...don't get me wrong on Miers (based on my last two posts). I wouldn't have selected her. As I've said before, I would have picked someone like Alex Kozinski from the 9th Circuit.

There are only two problems with Kozinski, though. 1) He has a good Conservative/Constitutionalist record, and 2) He doesn't drink the administration kool-aid. That's why he was never in the running even though he would have been one of the best choices possible.

If Bush really meant what he said about a choice being "in the mold" of Justices Thomas and Scalia, then Kozinski should have been at the top of the list. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Oh...and 3) He was never a close friend of Bush.

The only other problem I see with Kozinski is his very repeated participation in those trips and perks that are "supposed" to be "training seminars". They are paid for by special interest groups. From the numbers I have seen he has taken the most trips of any sitting judge. It just doesn't look too good. I will look for the article and try to post a link. Anyway, I think he would be a great conservative on the SCOTUS but I also think that these little trips might cast doubt on his ability to be impartial.

What? No Larry Thompson? Well, from everythign I have read as well I think Kozinski would be a great candidate as well. Let's all be honest. There are "perks" with any job. I mean I am a teacher and you better believe there are perks that come with this job. Like, all the dry erase markers you could ever want, free gov. pizza, tons of notebook paper, paper clips out the wazoo. So, if he took a flight here and did some "training" there who cares? I mean my favorite perk is when someone makes a Sonic run...Mmmm Vanilla Shakes.

"...from everything I have..." Sorry, hard to type with a Vanilla Shake in your hand.
