By the way...I wonder who Nashville's News 2 will hire as their morning feature reporter since Big Joe is moving to sports. Perhaps they should hire a blogger. Maybe even one that wears at tux.
There will be no Monday video blog. Instead, I present what I did all weekend. The below video is Improv Nashville's entry for the 48 Hour Film Project.
The 48 Hour Film Project takes place in several cities around the United States. Each team that signs up is giving 48 hours from Friday at 7:30pm till Sunday at 7:30pm to write, film and produce a short film lasting 5 to 7 minutes (not including credits). On Friday, each team draws a genre and all teams are giving a prop to use, a character to use along with a certain quality that they possess.
Improv Nashville drew the genre of Sci-Fi. We had to have a red wagon as a prop and the character was Fred Maloney who is supposed to be a kleptomaniac. One line had to be used in the film: "Go ahead, walk all over me."
We (a few people from the original and new troupes), as an improv group, decided to take a different approach from what the normal film team may take. We created our themes and scenes through improvisation (other than the base we had to work with).
This is what we came up with..."Space Movie: A Space Movie"

Like I needed another hobby. This is a new toy I got on Friday...
I have always wanted to learn to play, so I finally decided to take action. Prior to Friday, I had never even picked a violin up. So, now I'm jumping in with both feet and hope to be taking some lessons soon.
And here's my first "performance." As my friend Dylan called it, "Twinkle Star Symphony in G Minor."
On Saturday, I headed over to Smithville, TN for the internationally known Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree. I, of course, had the camera in tow. This was my first year to attend, and I have the feeling it won't be my last.
All around the courthouse square, there were people sitting in the shade in lawn chairs and every few feet there was a different group of people standing around "pickin' and a grinnin'." From young to old, there were all ages there.
Next year, I plan on taking a group of people with lawn chairs and setting up shop to just sit around and take it all in. I'd highly recommend it if you like bluegrass at all.
Be sure to check out the rest of the pictures. I may upload some more in the next day or so if I get a chance.
