Amanda Congdon Interview
You can see my interview of Amanda Congdon over at NashvilleisTalking.com.
Thanks to News2's Mike Tarrolly for handing me a microphone and letting me go. heh
By the way...I hope to have parts of this in Quicktime format here early next week.
Update: For some reason the video has disappeared on YouTube. Not sure what's going on there. Stay tuned. (Or just check back here early next week if it doesn't show back up on YouTube)
Update II: Seems to be working again. Here's the direct link.

Random Observation for the Day
I'm driving this morning and I'm listening to the radio...talk radio if you must know...Glenn Beck if you're really nosey. Anyway...the radio. All of a sudden, there's a breaking news flash. *Dah dah daaaah* A Fox News Breaking News Alert!
My first thought: a disaster of some type. At the very least, something that would affect us all. Why else would they break into the *middle* of an ongoing show to bring us this important alert?
A few seconds later my blood pressure rises from the fact that they had a breaking news alert in the middle of a show to tell me that Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys had apparently attempted suicide!
Now come on. Being interested in NFL football, sure. I am interested. However, don't break into the middle of a program with a "breaking news alert" to tell me and everyone else this news! How can I take "breaking news alerts" seriously now? Breaking news alerts are for real breaking news events. Not this crap!
Ok...that's today's random observation. Tomorrow is Amanda Congdon day in Nashville. I must prepare.
In the meantime, I point you to these: Video 1; Video 2

I was just reminded
I was just reminded that this week in Nashville is the IBMA World Of Bluegrass and Fan Fest. Sista Smiff has a rundown of details.
Semi-on subject...I saw Nickel Creek at the Ryman last night with The Mammals. I'd have to say that it ranks up there as one of the best shows I've seen at the Ryman for quite a while. Nickel Creek is definitely a crowd pleaser. Béla Fleck even made a guest appearance at the end.
Of course, the most memorable part of the show was their rendition of Britney Spears' Toxic. Pure hilarity. Chris Thile's Britney Spears-esque dance moves are one of a kind.

Camera-less...and other thoughts
Sitting here at the Frothy Monkey enjoying a pipe...about to do an improv show...thought it was time to update the blog...at least with text.
I've been semi-camera-less over the past week. Look for a new video blog on Monday. I've got an idea or two to play around with over the weekend. We'll see if it turns out.
Speaking of camera...I think I need to start a NashvilleFiles.com Video Blog Camera Fund. Anybody want to donate? :)
In other thoughts, I liked Bryson's first TV ad. Say what you will about it, I thought it was fine. My favorite part? Not the mini-Bredesen but that last scene where the bus zooms in. As to the hits against Bredesen? Well...they're all true.
Lastly...did you read the last couple of paragraphs of Ahmadinejad's speech to the U.N.? Wow. 12th Imam anyone?
By the way...later tonight I thought about taking some of my old tires up north of downtown to burn them. Anybody else in?

Also available on YouTube. As before, please give feedback and let me know how Quicktime is working out for you. It's still a large file, but this one streams better than the last one.
Enjoy.

Instead of a video blog today, I ask the question...where were you?
I was in Cologne, Germany.
I was traveling with a friend around Germany. We heard something about an airplane hitting one of the World Trade Towers on the train to Cologne. The British businessman who reported the news after hearing about it from a friend on his cell semi-joked about it. He had no idea what was really happening. Neither did we.
We got off the train and went into the station. Large crowds were gathered around the large TVs scattered about. The first tower had just fallen. I placed a call home to check in.
Outside of the station, the police were gathering...an anti-capitalist demonstration was just about to take place. It had apparently been planned for weeks, but something just isn't quite right about seeing signs that read Capitalism "ist Kaput!" right after seeing the first of the World Trade Towers fall.
However, there was only one reason we had trekked to Cologne that day. To see the cathedral. We went inside...we prayed.
Afterwards, we went back to Friedburg where we had been staying with a friend in the military. We didn't see him much for the rest of the trip. The base had been put on full alert. Things had changed. Yes...things had changed.
People would recognize you were American...they were truly empathetic for what had happened. You could feel their compassion...it was being poured out all around you. They would ask questions about how we felt. I couldn't put it into words...but I never really felt scared or shocked. I only felt that we were entering a new chapter in history and things probably wouldn't be the same for quite a while. It was something that was dealt to us...to everyone...it couldn't be changed.
We would deal with it though.
Just like we always have.
Just like we always will.
But...we would never forget.

P.S. New video blog tomorrow.

Target 2 - The Return of Trent Seibert
Trent Seibert hits pretty hard in his News 2 debut as he goes after State Sen. Jerry Cooper. According to Seibert, Cooper could be guilty of taking lots of illegal money and there are bank records to go along with the story.
See the story here at Trent's future blog. It's currently the video on the right side.
Now that's why New 2 hired Seibert. They'll definitely be getting their money's worth. Boyahkasha.
PS...Busy week. Video blog coming early next week.
